I Really Love My... 10.25.10

This necklace is one of my favorite pieces. It somehow goes with everything and I just really like the pop of color right by my face. I found this necklace years ago while I was out vintage shopping. Definitely one of my best finds! I'm sure there will be many, many more pictures of this necklace, cause I really do LOVE this. ;)
Although my own necklace is vintage you can still find similar statement necklaces...

Go Jane  $13.70

Wardrobe Remix... 10.25.10

I'm not one to repeat the same look...EVER! I know, you are all thinking that I am crazy but I rarely ever wear the same thing twice. That doesn't mean that once I have worn something, it gets shoved to the back of the closet or thrown in the donate pile...it just means I have to get a little creative next time. So many things in your wardrobe can be worn over and over again without falling into that fashion rut of wearing the same outfits all the time. Take that skirt, belt, vest, jeans, top, and scarf and put them to work! You may be surprised what you can come up with.

Get the look with these 5 key pieces:

1.  Convertible Skirt/Dress $29 - Garnet Hill

2.  Wide Corset Belt $17.60  - Forplay Catalog

3. Flowy Knit Vest $19.60 - Go Jane

4.  Dark Wash Jeans $39.50 - American Eagle Outfitters

5.  Lace Ruffle Top $13.50 - Forever 21

6.  Metallic Woven Scarf $7.80 - Forever 21

what we're wearing... 10.21.10

Okay, if you have been paying attention to our blog (and my various hair changes), you will notice that this photo was clearly not taken today, but it was a cute outfit and I just don't have the energy today to take one of myself so this one is going to have to work.

This outfit centered around these super cute textured cream sweater leggings that I got on sale at Meijer. I was a little concerned about wearing white on my legs (you know that whole idea that white makes things appear larger!) but I knew that I would find a way to make it work...and I believe I did! So ladies, here is how you do it. If you notice, the white of the leggings is really only showing in the middle of my legs...the top is covered by my long shirt and sweater, while the bottom half is covered by my boots. This allows only a small window of the white to show through and helps to make my legs appear slimmer (although admittedly my legs are actually one of my good parts!).

One caution for you...I have LOOOONG legs and am 5' 10" so I can get away with breaking up my legs in three spots. If you are shorter or have shorter legs, you may want to think twice as this can appear to make them look shorter. So the point to this long-winded diatribe is that you CAN wear white leggings (or jeans or tights or pants)...you just need to know how to cover your larger areas and flaunt your slimmer areas. :-)

I was REALLY happy with my romper purchase. (In the words of Rachel Zoe, "I die!") I recently got it at Kohl's. I looked at them all summer but couldn't commit because I didn't know if I'd actually wear it. However, for $3, I couldn't really go wrong... and with it being black, the romper can easily translate into my fall wardrobe. I threw on some cute printed tights, a cardigan, and boots and voila! perfect fall outfit. It was really comfy too...

This outfit is just a good example of how to take your summer clothes into fall by throwing on a few staples that most of us already have in our closet! Here's my challenge to you... take your favorite summer item from your closet and transform it to fall. Email a picture to us. You never know, your efforts may land you a spot right here on our blog... How FUN would that be?!?!

Spotted: Street Style...10.20.10

While strolling the streets of Columbus we have been inspired by all the fashionista's out there. Everywhere you turn you run into someone thinking outside the box. Being a little bit daring, being an individual and we want to spotlight these stylish ladies (and gentlemen if the occasion arises!!)

•   •   •   •   •   •   •   •   •   •

We met Carly on our way out of E Bar at Nordstrom. Her skirt immediately caught my eye... we then checked out the rest of her ensemble and thought, "This girl definitely knows what she's doing." So we chatted with her for a bit about life and fashion.

Her entire outfit is from the Gap... flats included. Carly talked about how she loved fashion and was very inspired by the Europeans after she lived in London for a year.

And I'd say she nailed it... I LOVED the way she mixed patterns but still kept it very clean and classy.

Meet Sara... We tracked her down at Easton as she was on her way to work. (She works at an accessories store... how perfect, right?!) She was kind enough to stop and chat with us a bit about what she was wearing.

Scarf - Rachel Roy (Shoe Woo)
All tops - XXI
Watch - Anne Kline (Shoe Woo)
Leggings - Victoria's Secret
Boots - Boutique 9 (Shoe Woo)

When we asked Sara her advice for fellow fashionistas she said, "Don't listen to anyone. There are no rules when it comes to fashion."

Her favorite part of her outfit are the boots. (Which I must say, I loved them as well... but we all know how I feel about boots!) What I personally loved about Sara's outfit were the accessories she chose. You can't see them well in the picture but her sunglasses were a floral print... and I loved that addition of color and print in her outfit!

We ran into Veronica while having lunch at the North Market.  Although her look followed our typical "leggings, boots, sweater, belt" rules, she was definitely thinking outside the box to make it her own.

Top/ Belt - Charlette Russe
Jeggings - TrippNYC
Boots - DSW
Hat - Flower Child (thrifted)

Veronica's favorite part of her outfit is her adorable little hat (with a super cute bow!) and her knee high black boots. Her fashion advice to all of you out there? "Skinny jeans and heels!" I LOVE when tall girls aren't afraid to wear heels!

We saw Meredith with her kids a few times while we were wandering around Easton and commented to ourselves how cute she looked. After the third time of crossing paths with her, we decided we needed to just stop and chat for a minute.

Maxi Dress - unknown
Jacket - Old Navy
Scarf - unknown

What stuck us about Meredith's outfit is that she is a mom and was out with her kids (two little ones under 3) but there was not a sweatpant or ponytail in sight! She did tell us that most of her wardrobe choices right nor revolve around what is easiest to nurse the baby! :-) She looks comfy and yet still stylish.

Right as we were heading out, we spotted Suellen and had to stop to chat for a second. She was a bit taken aback by us stopping her because in her mind she "doesn't care about fashion". Our response? "Well you are doing it all right for not caring!"

Jeans - American Eagle
Shirt - Forever 21
Sweater - Forever 21
Necklace - Target

Suellen laughed when we asked her to tell us about her outfit. She admitted that she is "cheap" and that the whole outfit was easily less than $40. Now that's our kind of everyday fashionista!

We will continue doing these blog posts throughout the coming weeks so...be sure you are thinking outside the box and put forth even the tiniest amount of effort in the morning. You never know...we may spot you next! <3<3

tights... love them or hate them???

There's a chill in the air, flip flops are slowly starting to go into hibernation, stores are packed full of fall and winter clothes... and the thing that is seen EVERYWHERE is tights... Do you dare?? For a long time I was very skeptical of them. A little scared and intimidated to be honest. I mean, I'm into fashion but in the beginning... they just felt very... I don't know, like I was trying to be 5 years old all over again. Uh, no thank you!!

However, the trend has been building for a while... they are evolving and as far as I'm concerned now, tights are the PERFECT accessory for fall and winter. They can enhance ANY outfit. A skirt or dress that you wore in the summer can easily come out and play in the fall... all it needs is a good cardigan or jacket and tights and you have updated your summer wardrobe... and it cost you next to nothing. If you are curious but still a bit apprehensive about this trend (as I was) I suggest trying Target or Walmart. Both stores have some adorable tights and they are very affordable.

I have searched the online shopping world and have found a few I am dying to try out...

footless lace tights in black
$32.99

mini floral print tights in taupe
$6.80

snow bunny tights
$34.99 (i know, a bit expensive for tights... but they're so stinkin' cute!!!)

I think I'm seriously in love with these, throw on a cozy sweater dress and some slouchy boots... perfect fall outfit... and so comfy too!

Those are just a few of 'must have' tights that I have found online. And yes, there are always the staple black opaque tights... but everyone owns a pair of those. Branch out, try just one pair of lacy, argyle, striped, colored, or printed tights... it will spice up your closet, its practically effortless, and you will feel fabulous just knowing you tried something new! Promise. ;-)

What do YOU think? Will YOU try them?

What we're wearing... 10.6.10

Ugh, what a terrible "deer in the headlights" look I have. Clearly, I'm not a model... just an everyday fashionista (who's terrible at getting her picture taken). ;-) Sooo... this outfit (that's what we're here to talk about, right?)... this is my "sweatpant" day. Totally lazy outfit, but I love it nonetheless. This is one of my favorite comfy shirts.... it's plaid and it has pockets... um, perfection. And the only other noteworthy part of this look are my shoes... I LOVEEEEEE my pink Chucks. I have worn them for years and years... and I wear them with everything. What doesn't go with Chucks???

Just take this lazy outfit as a hint that just because you don't feel like dressing up doesn't mean you have to wear sweatpants. You can still look cute and be totally comfortable.

{amrie girl - jackie}

LOL! So I just have to laugh at Jackie's comments about how this is her "sweatpants day" because this is totally my version of a "sweatpants day" outfit. It is super comfy and still looks pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself...and since you are reading our blog, I can do that, right?

I LOVE my little mary janes from Target...they seriously feel like slippers and when you wear a size 11 with terrible bunions (OUCH!) that is not easy to to! The leggings are a bit on the see-through side so the longer striped shirt helps to prevent any possible "Britney Spears' Moments". ;-) LOVE LOVE LOVE the legwarmers...even thought they are probably 5 years old and the brand no longer exists!

EVERYONE can use something PINK.

"If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them.  When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope?  We have two options, medically and emotionally:  give up, or fight like hell."

This quote is only fitting for October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is our society's way of fighting like hell to fund more research and development so that one day there may be a cure for breast cancer. Everywhere you turn this month you will see something PINK. And when you do, stop and think about it... that small purchase can end up greatly affecting millions of lives one day. Small purchases add up... and if we all try to at least give a little bit we are helping the greater cause.

I, myself, haven't personally been affected by this cancer. However, people very near and dear to me have; and through my association with them, they have made me much more aware of needing to find a cure for breast cancer and aiding in the awareness of it. So in honor of all who have been touched by breast cancer I am blogging to tell you that EVERYONE can use something PINK this month. It will make a difference...

A portion of the proceeds for all of the items listed below are donated to breast cancer awareness and research in finding a cure. I hope you find a little something PINK to tickle your fancy... and millions of others peoples.

Click on the links above the pictures to take you to their website.

These were just a couple products that I found online. Everywhere you turn you will find something benefitting the cause. Please take a second and think about it... your small donation may change someone's life.

Let's keep everyone aware... if you find a great PINK product post it below in the comments!

Maybe Amrie Boutique should do a little PINK sale of our own... stay tuned this month for more on this project!! <3
